Any takers?

November 22, 2011

Any guess what is in this shopvac?

2 bats!!!!!! Anyone want to come and take them away (but please leave the shopvac, we need it ;-)

Here are some pics of the outside of the house. Looking good, huh?

We were told they will have to cut off the branch seen here to get in the drywall on a truck.... let's hope they're wrong.

In better news, the drywallers have continued to mud the first floor and it is looking good. I believe he's on his 3rd (or so) coat thus far. Here's a question: Can you paint before you refinish floors (which makes sense in case any paint gets on the floor) OR should you refinish the floor before painting (which also makes sense because the floors will kick up dust)? Thoughts?

Here is the first floor (it pretty much looks the same, so I didn't go overboard with the pics):

They also started to hang the 2nd floor ceilings as seen here:

There has also been work going on in the attic, which is one of my favorite places in the house. Here it is:

Some framing for the drywallers

This area will be a closet

That's all for now!

Bat attack!

November 18, 2011

Just a quick follow-up from the last blog and the bat shenanigans.... (BTW, when I tried to spell check shenanigans, it thought I was writing Scandinavians... that would be a totally different blog)

So, Alok was working diligently on the house tonight and had planned to finish hanging the insulation on the 2nd floor (we're insulating the inner walls/ceilings for noise), when a bat flew at his head (his description). Apparently, he took off running and left the house. Not even being shop-vac-ed can contain this guy (or gal).

Moving on up....

November 18, 2011

Before I move to the inside of the house, I wanted to discuss some shenanigans that have apparently been occurring. Apparently, the bat that was residing in our attic has been in there since the insulation was sprayed (OK, so maybe there are some assumptions here). Regardless, Eric and Alok found a bat in the attic. So, Eric climbed up on a ladder and shop-vaced it up. Today, I arrived to find the bottom part of the shop-vac in the yard, as seen below. It was empty. The bat probably escaped so he could properly re-enter his (I mean our) home.

In good news, the drywallers have been hard at work. The first floor is pretty much hung and the mudding has begun. Here it is:

This wasn't drywalled, but is a nice storage area ;-)

Now onto the 2nd floor, which is still wall-less:
