Things have drastically slowed down on the interior of the house. Part of that is life (work, moving, etc) and part of that is.... well, just doing stuff not related to the house. I know you all spend all of your free time thinking of our house/blog, but don't worry, we'll keep going and more exciting stuff is to come. The next few days will be more history of the house and we'll be back to our entertaining selves on Monday.
So, in the meantime, I thought that I would reveal our outside paint color choices. The only thing that is absolutely set is the trim is white. We have ordered gutters in that color, so unless we want to paint them, it will be white. That being said, this is the first scheme we can agree on, so this will be it. Here are the current house colors:
We have picked Wedgewood Gray for the Siding:
Van Deusen Blue and Bryant Gold for the accents:
And white for the trim.
I just spent the last hour on the Benjamin Moore website, uploading a picture of the house and the putting these colors in it, but it wouldn't let me share it. AH! So, you'll just have to imagine for now. Or, you can look at this horrible picture of the front of the Benjamin Moore brochure (which I can't find online), but uses the colors:
I stole this off of another site, so just ignore the color swatches next to it. I guess if you are really bored, you can also go to that site and play with the tool that let's you paint our house. Or you could just wait and see it when it's done.
Again, the house is in desperate need of paint (unless you consider peeling to be a new fad), but we need to spend the money we have right now on mold and gutters. So, it will be a bit of a delay before you see that finished product.
As for the rest of the house, the roofers were working hard today and what was the hottest day of the year. Poor guys. Then, I proceeded to ask them to move the big air conditioner that you've seen before here:
We had a rented dolly for the day and they are almost done with the roof, so I figured it was now or never. They were great sports and it took 4 of them with the dolly to move this thing. It may not look big in the picture, but it is almost the size of a real air conditioner that you would have outside, powering your whole house. I would have loved to see them install this (not just for amusement, but so I could tell them that installing the world's biggest window unit and not properly weather sealing it is a bad idea). I guess that's what the air conditioner time machine would have been good for (see last Friday's post if you are confused and then try to keep up ;-) Oh, and if anyone is looking for a massive, mold producing air conditioner, feel free to stop by and take it off our porch. You better hurry. I'm sure they'll be a mad dash.
BTW, thanks to Jacob L. for suggesting that I stop by 12th and State to check out the paint colors. That's where we found these.
More to come tomorrow.
Jessica
You may be able to get a some good money for that air conditioner online or at a scrap yard. A scrap yard will pay by the pound for metal so they might give you a good price.
