4 months. That's how long we spent tearing down wallpaper. Sigh. Live and learn. Before we get started with an update, I have an announcement. My mom owns Designers Again (1st floor Maine Center), which is an upscale women's resale shop. She is closing her business. As of 1/17/11, they are having a closing sale. You may want to check out the great deal before everything is gone. Please spread the word.
Anyway, back to the house.
More walls are coming down. Here's how things are looking:
More foyer walls are missing
From foyer to living room. Notice the massive church pew we now have (it was my grandmas)
The foyer side of the pocket door
Another view of the door/a peak into the dining room
Foyer (by front door)
Foyer walls again
Entrance from foyer into hallway that leads into the apartment
Dining room into the foyer/hallway/apartment
Of course, with the peeling back of walls, we have new discoveries.
See that rotted out sewer pipe on the left? That would have smelled good. (That's by the mustard painted pocket doors in the dining room)
Mish-mosh of pipes in the dining room. Many are rotted out
Close up of some of those lovely pipes
Maybe loosing 4 months isn't so bad. It's better than smelling sewer gas while you're eating dinner or having the completely corroded pipe above your head at the table start to leak.
