The Doors

December 25, 2011

Merry Christmas!!!

My very thoughtful present to all of you is a brief update on the house.

In more good news, the drywallers are finished hanging the drywall throughout the house, including the 3rd floor (attic). The mudders are almost finished with the 2nd floor, including fixing the plaster that was left. It will probably be about a 2-4 weeks and the entire house will be mudded and drywalled (including some not so great drywall that was hung before in the addition- they are going to fix that, as well as the hole that was under the sheep/men wallpaper in the front parlor).

In other news, Alok has been furiously scrapping off the 12+ layers of paint that is on all of the wood work. Here it is now:

Stairs sans white paint (and under layers of pink, green, black, etc)

Front window seat is now scrapped

More window seat.

Now that some of the front room is cleaned, you can see the fireplace

Area around the pocket door that was scrapped....my mom wondering about the black underneath

Apartment bath. Alok laid the hardy backer board (is that what it's called) that required him to mix a cement-like substance....I'll show you where he mixed that....

Another close up on the doorway in the dining room, apartment bathroom under the stairs

Peeled wood for the 2nd set of pocket doors....

Our kitchen....aka the cement mixing area.... hmmmm.... on the floors we are keeping

Fireplace in the apartment area... something needs to be done here!

I wonder where this door came from/now leads too.....in the media room

Attic stairs.... sans door

Random door (maybe attic?) in the yellow bedroom

Our bathroom closet.... hmmmm.... I think the floor needs some help

Our master bath jacuzzi tub.......

The attic drywall has been hung, which is fairly exciting since it has never been finished. Here it is:

As for the rest of the house, some parts could still use some work. Here is the additional bathroom upstairs, which Alok has actually been using:

check out that clean bathroom

Only about 8 inches of drywall dust

Alok's office...aka the storage area. What will be interesting is trying to get our real furniture, etc from the garage while moving all of this stuff for storage into the garage.

That's all for now. Merry Christmas!

We got to move it, move it.....

Here is a quick update... although it took me a few days to post!

Alok and I have picked out several colors for the house, but we are waiting to share ;-) Just picture BRIGHT colors and let your imagination run wild!

In good news, the first floor is drywalled, primed, and ceilings painted, the 2nd floor is drywalled, in the process of being mudded, and the drywall on the 3rd floor is being hung! Woo hoo!!

Alok has spent time laying the base for the bathroom floor tile and stripping wood. More pics on that later.

Here is the house as of about last Thursday:

They have started to repair the plaster on the 2nd floor
