Ice, ice baby

January 19, 2011

Today marks the 100th blog post. The day that..... well, I posted blog number 100. There have been more than 100 workdays, so this really marks nothing except spending a lot of time and money on this lovely house. Here is the update:

Starting with the outside, we have these nice planters in the front now. We just need to spruce the place up with some dead plants. Seriously those, these were my grandma's and we have some nice outdoor furniture to match them:

I'm also a bit worried about the icicles. They don't match the icicles that took down part of an overhang when we lived in Chicago. Hopefully they don't impale anyone (I love how icicles are of concern, with all that's going on in this house):

Another issue we're having is mail. We forwarded the mail from this house to my mom's house, but then realized that much of it has been lost (just a work check, insurance info, etc...no biggies!). It could be the 2 inches of ice on the ground or the lack of a mailbox (which we just hung up), but apparently that coupled with a forward not working has led to some issues. Hopefully things start showing up at either house soon.

Moving on to the inside of the house, Alok has been hard at work destroying things.

Another view... foyer wall by the stairs

The underneath of the stairs.... I'm not sure what we're doing here.

Alok and I finally agreed on tearing down the apartment walls. Although many hours were spent on this drywalled over wallpapered wall, I was happy to see them go. Here it is now:

This is the area in the apartment that will be the bedroom
