Moving WAY up...

January 7, 2011

So out of the many decisions that have been made in this house (none of which we actually stick to), we have made yet another one- move into our attic ASAP.

Why you may ask? First we need to get out of my mom's house because she need to sell it this spring. (Know anyone wanting to buy a 4+ bed, 3.5 bath house with a full finished basement with Westview Golf Course as a back yard? Let me know). Secondly, who doesn't want to share an attic with their spouse and 6 pets.....

I should mention that the attic does have a bathroom and is about 800 sq ft, which is larger than our downtown Chicago apartment, so we should be good. Although, the absence of walls and the fact that my husband goes to bed about 3 hours earlier and wakes up about 2 hours earlier than me may prove interesting.

Here is the to do list:

Seal the 3 windows in the attic for heat
Make curtains for said windows that have a insulation backing
Make the window that is on Hampshire and directly in front of the bathtub have a little more privacy
Get a bathroom door
install bathroom tile (about 110 sq ft)
maybe get the clawfoot tub fixed
install a toilet
buy a sink
install hardwood (about 810 sq ft)
get a banister and small gate so we don't fall down the stairs
Install basics in the closet
have the drywall finish mudding/sanding (about 2 weeks)
buy a fire ladder
rehang the attic door

Oh, and have a heating cooling/system purchased/installed (the duct work is in).

Then, we can hopefully block this area off enough so that we can block off the work that is going on in the rest of the house.

Sound like fun?

Pictures of house progress to come....

Jessica
