In wrapping up this lovely Labor Day weekend of work (hmmm....) the painting is complete! OK, that's a huge overstatement, but the painting of the current trim we bought at Bayview as well as the rosettes is complete! This is the window/door trim for the bathrooms, upstairs bedrooms, apartment area, and upstairs back hallway. We still need the floor trim, but that's OK :-)
Here is an exciting picture of the wood drying:
With the trim being complete, Alok started to hang it! Woo hoo! Here is it partially hung in the nursery:
And Master Bedroom:
Alok also continued to work on his lovely attic window and did another coat of paint around the trim. Here he is trimming it up:

The next picture is a picture for a friend.... any ideas how to refinish all of the doorknobs, etc that are painted, just as seen here?
So, we didn't get anything crossed off the list and are still at 38 things prior to moving in-ish, but things are starting to look up. I may just have to change my vote on the "will we move in on time" from No to Yes. We'll see if the baby agrees.
Jessica
i agree!
ReplyDeletethe attic bathroom looks amazing...aka i can't wait to visit (when the house is done...) ;)
Depending on what the knobs are made of and what kinds of paint is on them, you should be able to take them all off the doors and give them a good soak in paint thinner. Use a wire brush for the little crevices and the flat areas where the paint is just stubborn. This would obviously not be a two-person job! (Meaning not a job for the person that is two people for a limited amount of time... two fully developed people would be fine.) I would take one off and take it to the paint department at Home Depot and see what they say, too. Ask for Mike. He's a trip.
