So apparently there was a storm last night. I say that because I am out of town visiting my new nephew! In the meantime, Alok sent me some pictures of the damage around the house. And of course, our house is still perfectly standing.
Massive tree on our property that was uprooted and landed on the neighbors tree, breaking that tree... fortunately, they are very nice and said that they would take care of this.

Of course, we still have the branches from the previous storm to clean up. I hear there is another one coming today. Be safe everyone!
Is now officially the CONSTRUCTION zone (see, aren't I clever!). Dare I say that we MAY be done destroying our house? Let's hope we can get rid of this soon:

In terms of construction, we now officially have 2 major projects underway. 1 is plumbing all of the bathrooms (all 5.5 of them), and the other is installing the HVAC unit for the top 2 floors. Here is the progress:

As I was surveying the damage yesterday by the trees, apparently I missed the entire back of the house. Before we get to that, I was just noticing the pipes that had been removed because our plumber started today! Exciting. Here are the pipes:
See the great condition of these? It's no wonder our lovely inspector said these pipes were OK.
Anyway, on to the trees. The first thing I noticed was this branch: This is bigger than it looks
And then I noticed that this bunch looked weird: And saw that the tree had broken in half. Then I looked up: See those two branches pointing to the side and down. Yea, it's not suppose to be like that.

Basically, these branches broke off and one of them broke another tree in half. Unfortunately, these were not the trees that really needed to be taken out.
Then, my mom pointed out this branch dangling above the garage:

Needless to say, we're lucky that we got some names of tree removal people from our neighbor. It just looks like we'll need to get on that a bit faster, especially since one of the branches is above a power line/our neighbors shed. I mean, if you lose power, I swear it wasn't us!!
Moving on inside, as I mentioned before, our plumbers started today. We even have a toilet hole in the bathroom under the stairs:

I have a feeling these aren't quite as exciting for those of you who actually have plumbing, but I'm finding it pretty thrilling!
Alok has also been working on tearing out the last thing that needs to be torn out. We'll call it the "forgotten room" aka the yellow bedroom bath that is being removed. Oops.
After a fun-filled weekend at the wedding of Amanda and Patrick, Alok and I returned to plan out the bathrooms at the house. The plumber should start tomorrow! So, maybe soon (like 1-2 months), we'll have a workable bathroom. In the meantime, we have to figure out where all of the fixtures will go in the laundry room and all of the bathrooms (we'll have 4 or 5 fulls and 1 or 2 halfs.... Alok and I are still debating on one of those!). The goal is to get one of the half baths set (the one under the stairs), as well as our master bath prior to move in. We'll just drywall the others and have the plumbing ready to go when we have the time and money to fix them up.
Before we get into the exciting world of bathrooms, here is a look at the outside of the house:
Just a few downed branches. We keep hoping that one would just take out the house, but instead we just get these mini-branches falling. Just kidding! Our luck a big tree will take out part of it once the renovations are complete.
We also found this: A lovely broken window from the front living area to the flagstone patio. I think this hinged window gave out due to all the construction and flipped down, shattering. Just another thing to replace!

There will also be a huge bathtub to my left when you step out of the shower, but I couldn't get a pic. The entrance to the bathroom is to the back left of Alok.
Now this bathroom was the most difficult: The hallway bathroom! We went back and forth between using a clawfoot tub and a separate shower and not. I was for the separate, Alok was for not using the tub and doing a combo.

We finally figured it out! Alok is marking the shower, which is when you walk in the door. The clawfoot is against the wall on the other side of the shower, a toilet is in the back corner and a vanity is to your immediate right when you walk in.
In other news, Alok cleaned out this nasty area that was behind the yellow bedroom and next to the laundry room:

The last room of decisions was the laundry room. The laundry room has a pretty set place for the washer and dryer, but we are adding a double sided, kitchen-like sink here:
This was from This Old House. It's good for handwashing. Also, we are making this a massive storage area with cabinets everywhere when we get there. This is actually the size of a bedroom, but it will just continue to be a massive laundry room.
Speaking of the laundry room, we found this in the corner:
More freaking water damage! 10 points to whoever can figure that one out. And you know, points are worth a lot!!
