It's a house!?

July 19, 2012

Due to some recent additions, our house is starting to look a bit more like an actual house!  GASP!  It's a Christmas in July miracle!

(Maybe I'm being dramatic, but it has almost been 2 years!)

So what is making me so happy?  3 things:

1) The microwave is finally up!  Woo hoo!  That means other appliances are to follow.

2) We have a new ceiling fan that (probably) won't light the house on fire (and if it does, our ADT system will alert us!)
Kitchen fan

Installation of the new fan in the other part of the kitchen

3) The lead paint is out and our windows are painted!  Now, there may still be cracked windows, no molding covering weights, and now totally sealed/non-functioning windows, but hey, we'll take them.  (I know, window pics aren't as exciting).

In other news, Alok has put a hold on continuing to strip this woodwork because he realized that the chemicals aren't really hazardous and he needs to move onto other things. Here is what he has so far (minus 7+ layers of paint, I think it's looking great);

We also finally got the last air conditioning unit removed from the house. Woo hoo! Well, window/wall unit removed, we do have 2 central units which are running full force.  (Ignore the fact that this isn't sealed.  It's not like air is leaking out anywhere in this house):

We also had the overgrown area next to our garage cleaned up, as seen here.  I'm sure the neighbors appreciate it.

The lovely hole that let the mice in.

That's all for now!

  2. Seeing things coming along, especially if you've waited for them for so long, is definitely something to be happy about. Glad to see progress in the house you are making. The ceiling fan looks good in that room. I hope you've purchased a sturdy one though, so you won't have to replace it too soon. Hope you're all having a great time in your new house!
